How to Live From the Other Side of Offense

Our lives are made up of experiences & relationships; things that happen to us, through us, and around us and how we decide to respond to them.

God uses our seasons, circumstances, relationships, & situations as platforms and opportunities to grow our character in Christ-likeness. Our primary goal is maturing in our response to these things. Every platform presents an opportunity for growth, evolution, and being more like Christ in that moment.

In light of the Truth...

Stay In Your Comfort Zone

Whether in life or in business, we’ve heard the phrase a thousand times: Get out of your comfort zone!

The claim is that to experience everything you want in life, you’re going to have to step out of your comfort zone.

I’ve been trying that approach for what seems like forever. Have I gotten results? Sure. But am I really experiencing the fullness of life I know I am created to live? Honestly, I know and believe there’s more. Much more...

The Danger of Being Too Comfortable

Last week was a tough week for me. I've been feeling like I'm stuck in quicksand. Foggy. Frustrated. Just couldn't find my flow. I didn't understand this feeling at first. But one thing I believe is that our gracious Creator has given us our feelings and emotions to serve as signals in response to our environment and circumstances.

So after almost a week of restlessness, praying, seeking, frustration, seeking, praying, trying to understand this feeling... well, I have to admit it...

Why I Failed at Loving Others Well

The Creator of our souls says that one of the most impactful things we can do here on earth is to love others as we love ourselves. Sometimes I don’t think it’s as hard to love others as it is for us to love ourselves.

As we love ourselves. Yeah, that part.

How well are you loving yourself?

I remember a time in my life when I would try to “love” others as hard as I could to help fill the gaping holes left in my soul from the battle wounds of living. Over the years, it eventually manifested into an unhealthy version of people-pleasing and selfish-ambition...

3 Hidden Reasons Why You're Created for Connection

Today I want to challenge the notion of "I'm not a people person."

When my fifteen year old son was in school, he would constantly give me this lame excuse for not participating in discussions. Or for not joining the High School "small" group at church. Or for just deciding to be unsociable period.

"But, Mom, I'm just not a people person!"

Oh my soul!!! I have heard that reason on more than one occasion in my life, more often from introvert types (like myself - albeit I'm more of an extroverted introvert) who are terrified to put themselves "out there" in social situations.

Well, just as I shared with my son, allow me to share with you some reasons why we can eradicate the excuse of "I'm not a people person." ...

How to Focus on TRUTH When FACTS Say Otherwise

Can I share something personal with you?I didn't handle stressful situations very well.

The funny thing is that I honestly thought I handled stress pretty well. It could be because when it came to stressful situations, I would subconsciously do anything I could not to deal with it.

I would pretend it wasn't really happening. I would leave the really hard decisions up to someone else. Worse yet, sometimes I'd just crumple under the pressure...rendered almost useless under severe stress.

Under normal circumstances, ...

How to Win When the Weight Seems Stacked Against You

Have you ever found yourself minding your own business, then out of nowhere God speaks to you right in the midst of where you are?

To be honest, it shouldn't be a surprise when that happens. I mean, Jesus always used everyday visuals to share profound nuggets of wisdom with His listeners. He's known for using mustard seeds, harvest fields, sheep, fig trees, etc. to explain a word of Truth to His people.

Well, the other day I was in the park exercising with my hubby and as I turned the bend BAM! -I saw THIS tree.

Whoa! What a profound visual! I just had to stop and stare because what I was seeing just resonated with the depths of my soul ~ Father, what are you saying to me here? ...

4 Things Jesus's Mom Teaches Us About Purpose

Mother's Day is just over a week away. Being a Mom myself, I usually take this time to pay homage to my own Mom and reflect on important nuggets of wisdom I've gleaned from her almost 65 years of experience on this earth. [Thanks Mom!]

Funny enough, I was prompted to also reflect on some vital nuggets of Truth that I've learned from another timeless Mom from centuries ago - our beloved Mary, the Mom of Jesus Christ.

Through her own life-changing experience, Mary teaches us four things about discovering our unique purpose.

God wants to do something AMAZING through you – because HE IS AMAZING! Go back in time with me for a moment to the book of Luke 1:27...

Have You Outgrown Your Why?

Have you ever come to a point where the joy and passion that once fueled the flames of that incredible relationship, business, or activity was just...gone? Poof. Flat. You're just going through the motions. What happened?? Change. That's what happened. It's a part of life.

Seasons change. The people around us change. We change. We grow and mature. However, we often overlook two very necessary components of change. I call them the "Double A:"

Assessment and Alignment.

(It's kind of like when you get your tires changed. You have to get an alignment done as well. If you don't, you'll experience unnecessary wear and damage to your new tires.)

If you don't want to experience unnecessary wear in your life, it's crucial that you are intentional about assessing and aligning why you're doing the things you do...

Keep It Organic

I was talking with my friend Melody the other day and I was sharing with her how spiritually depleted I'd been feeling this week. Although I'd been getting spiritually fed, I just felt like something was missing.

Maybe you've felt that way before - a little snappish, short on words, vulnerable, drained…just all in your flesh!

I just could not grasp why I was feeling so malnourished.

Before I go further, let me give you a little snapshot of my girl, Melody. She is one of the most inspiring people I know…so full of energy, life, and SPUNK! She is my big sister from another mister! She is a woman who has fallen in love with radiating her truth through healthy eating and well-being. Her Get Fit, Live Well posts encourage me daily to stay on track with healthier eating and exercise (well, between you and me, I've yet to get on track with the exercise part :).)

Back to the story.

So she's telling me all about her healthy eating lifestyle and then it HIT ME. "Mel! I know why I've been so depleted!!!" I'd been filling up on "processed food"!

You see, our spiritual health is much like our physical health. When we fail to feed our bodies in the most nutritious way possible, we feel the effects. In much the same way...
